Autumn Care of Shallotte is a 140-bed nursing and rehab facility, located in downtown Shallotte, on the coast of North Carolina. We opened our doors in 1989, and have been proudly serving our local community and the remainder of Brunswick County, New Hanover, Columbus and surrounding counties, including Horry County, SC, since then. Terri Cole, Administrator, has been with the facility from the beginning and is attributed with the stable environment we can offer our residents. We are licensed by the North Carolina Division of Facility Services, and are certified for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and are contracted for Hospice services. We accept both short-term and long-term residents.
The population of our coastline is growing with many new housing developments that are attracting people who are not only moving their families here, but also moving parents with them. We are easily accessible from Hwy. 17, about half way between Wilmington, NC to our north and Myrtle Beach, SC. Our central location is, ideally, located close to some of North Carolina’s finest beach areas. We are just minutes from Holden Beach, Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach.
In addition to providing 24-hour nursing care, we also offer Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy services. Therapy services are offered to residents who have the potential to restore their maximum functional potential, improve the performance of daily living tasks, or are having communication, hearing and swallowing difficulties. All services are provided under the close supervision of our Medical Director, George L. Saunders, MD.
We also offer a “Restorative†program for residents who have completed Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies, or are no longer appropriate for these services. Certified Nursing Assistants that have received specialized training continue with the exercise and feeding programs established by the therapists, once therapy has been discontinued.
The “Palms†wing is a unit designated for Alzheimer’s residents and residents with other forms of memory impairment, providing loving, compassionate care in a safe and secure environment. One of its most pleasant features is a lovely landscaped secure patio, with an arbor for shade, swings, rockers and fountain. Family members and staff enjoy bringing our residents outdoors in this peaceful setting.
Another of our “attractions†is the loving staff we employ. In addition to providing 24-hour nursing care, our staff is able and willing to provide love and support to our residents, and their families. Once admitted to Autumn Care, our residents and their families become part of our Autumn “familyâ€, and our staff strives to be the best surrogate family to our residents, as possible. In touring our facility, many comments are offered about the “smiling†faces and warm attitudes of our staff as they are observed completing their routine tasks.
We invite you to tour our facility anytime.
