For over twenty years the Britthaven family has been taking care of your neighbors and loved ones. Through thousands of special residents we have learned, loved, rejoiced and cried. True compassion and caring is what we seek in the staff that cares for our residents. True progress and quality of life is what we seek to give our residents. In order to provide this individualized type of care we carefully assess each new resident upon admission and at regular intervals in order to formulate an interdisciplinary plan of care. If at any time a significant change in status is identified, we take a new look at the resident and see what changes need to be made in the plan of care. This process is a team effort consisting of Dietary Specialists, Nursing Professionals, Administration, Social Work, Recreational Activities Personnel, Corporate Consultants and Rehabilitation staff. Skilled Nursing is a complex interdisciplinary process. It takes a team of many players from various specialties to meet the needs of each individual. Below is a summary of what each discipline contributes.

Admissions

Making each resident and family feel welcome and informed is the goal of the Admissions Coordinator. This role is that of liaison between the facility and the hospitals and other referring medical providers. The Admissions Coordinator truly coordinates the admission including arranging for a physician, assigning the room, preparing the staff, obtaining treatment orders and greeting the resident. The Admissions personnel also meet with families or the resident prior to or on the day of admission to explain services & benefits, obtain consents and answer questions. This informational session provides literature about resident rights, the family's role in adjustment to placement, routes of communication and family council meetings.

Administration

Each facility has an administrator that oversees the department leaders to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, company policy and professional practice. The administrator leads the team in meeting the needs of our residents, families and the community. We work hard to employ the most experienced and dedicated professionals for this important position.

Nursing Services

Maintaining the highest standard of health and comfort is the goal of our nursing staff. Each facility has a Director Of Nursing Services who coordinates the appropriate staff, resources and programs to meet the needs of each resident. There are often several administrative nurses who assist the DON in meeting the professional standards and regulatory standards we follow. We strive to recruit the most qualified, experienced individuals to take this leadership position. The DON is available to meet with residents and families to discuss care and related matters.

Dietary

Dietary services are provided by certified dietary managers, Dieticians, Dietary Aides and contracted providers. Our menus are planned to be nutritional, satisfying and offer variety. Special supplements, nutritional snacks and a variety of fluids are offered in addition to meals. Monitoring of nutritional deficits, fluid & electrolyte balances, and digestive disorders begins on admission. Our dietary services department works with attending physicians to provide the proper balance of nutrients and consistency for each individual. Dietary also conducts regular assessments of residents and meetings to address the needs of residents with weight loss, wounds or weight gain.

Social Work

Social Work is a multi-faceted service in a skilled facility. The social worker assists with adjustment to the new surroundings, monitors mood, behavior and the need for psychological services. The social worker is also the person who as the contact for mandated grievance procedures and abuse reporting. The care our social workers have for their residents goes beyond regulated requirements. They also assist residents in need of eyeglasses, hearing aids and other assistive communication devices. They assist with discharge plans from household modifications to meals on wheels. We do all we can to help you find the services, financial assistance and equipment you need to return to the community.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation Services are provided by Physical Therapists (PT), Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants (LPTA), Occupational Therapists (OT) and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA), and Speech/Language Pathologists. A vast collection of therapy equipment, specialized programs and modalities are utilized to assist each resident in reaching their goals. Objectives include proper use of assistive devices, strengthening, endurance, compensatory strategies, muscle re-education and fine motor skill development.

Housekeeping and Laundry Services

Housekeeping services are provided daily by our dedicated staff in order to maintain a safe, hygienic environment. Laundry services are provided onsite for both linens and personal clothing. All personal items are clearly marked at or before admission and are returned on a daily basis to each resident's closets and drawers. It's our attention to details that allows residents to focus on rehab, recovery and an active, full life.

Maintenance Services

Maintaining a well-lit, comfortable and appealing environment is the goal of our maintenance staff. We monitor water temperatures, room temperatures, durable medical equipment, and fire/safety procedures and equipment to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. From the structural safety of our parking areas to the preparation for natural disasters, our maintenance staff is always keeping a check on the environment we provide to our residents, visitors and staff.

Recreational Activities

Activity Coordinators are the source of many hours of recreation, fellowship and fun. Along with a staff of assistants and volunteers they work hard to offer a variety of activities everyday. Social stimulation is provided through current event discussions, coffee & tea time, outings, cooking, dances, Bingo and other group projects or games.
