Professional and Experienced Staff

Our Fitzgerald Health Center is licensed to provide nursing care to 108 residents with 18 special care rooms in the Grousbeck Wing. The Grousbeck wing is designed and staffed to meet the needs of people with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

Our center is staffed with experienced RN's, LPN's, Medical Technicians and resident assistants who offer care around the clock. A local physician visits the Center weekly, scheduling appointments for those who select him as their personal physician.

Skilled Care at the Fitzgerald Health Center

Opened in 1985, The Fitzgerald Health Center is a vital component of Arbor Acres' continuum of care. Here, residents experience genuine Christian care, the essence of Arbor Acres' ministry. Arbor Acres boasts an atmosphere that encourages independence, preserves dignity, and provides peace of mind to residents and their families. This emphasis fosters the physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being of each individual. Arbor Acres is accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.

We often take direct admissions to our Fitzgerald Health Center, including the Special Care Unit for residents with Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Fitzgerald Health Center is surrounded by beautifully landscaped courtyard gardens where residents, family and friends can share many hours of enjoyment. Extensive renovations were completed in December of 1998 making the Center warmer and more inviting. Soft earth-tones and rounded edges give everything, from the nurses' stations to the sitting area of the library, a comfortable look and feel. A mix of elegant wingbacks, camelback sofas, cozy armchairs and ottomans fill sitting areas. Even the greenery and floral arrangements have been selected to enhance the relaxed atmosphere and casual grace of the building.

Dining facilities have also been rendered more beautiful as well as functional. The resident rooms have been updated and refurbished. Skilled nursing care has never been lovelier.

Residents dine three times daily in beautiful, spacious dining rooms staffed and operated by trained professionals, including a certified dietary manager. The Fitzgerald Health Center maintains the same philosophy of health services that pervades all of Arbor Acres: A healthy life is one that is fulfilled socially, physically, and spiritually. Skilled recreation therapists develop and implement a variety of programs tailored to each resident. These programs generally include horticulture and culinary classes, painting, crafts, music, exercise sessions and special day trips. Residents are encouraged to explore new activities as well as to cultivate hobbies they've enjoyed throughout the years.

The Spa

Arbor Acres believes that as life grows more limited for the frail and impaired elderly, pleasure, dignity, and quality of life must come through the activities of daily living or they will not come at all. The mission of the SPA is to take a purely hygienic activity and return it to an experience that serves the whole person.

A beautiful, spacious common room with soothing music, a gentle waterfall and aromatherapy, greets residents when they come to the SPA. Rich to the senses, private and dignified, functional and beautiful, the SPA is personally and physically fulfilling. Through their senses, our residents welcome back the warmth, pleasure, and relaxation that bathing brings.
