St. Joseph of the Pines has enjoyed a reputation of providing quality healthcare to residents of the Sandhills region since 1948. Today, the Health Center is a leading innovator of rehabilitation and skilled nursing services on a state and national level. St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center has entered a new era in the approach to caring for short- and long-term nursing home residents.

Foremost at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center with its 167 licensed bed capacity, is our objective to provide the most favorable environment that emphasizes a person-centered philosophy of autonomy in all aspects of our residents’ lives. In doing so, we have implemented the Household Model of Care approach and the creation of Therapy Village.

The creation of Therapy Village, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center, has received national acclaim.

Therapy Village has all the components to make it possible for rehabilitation residents to re-acclimate to the community. During their stay at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center, residents can regain strength and their functional mobility through simulated environments to get back to their daily routine. Therapy Village’s walls embrace life-sized daily living apparatuses, such as automobiles, grocery store shelves, a putting green, a mini theater, a bank, post office sector and has a restaurant setting. Therapy Village includes two separate rehab areas that focus on all three therapeutic disciplines including physical, occupational, and speech.

Qualified professional clinical and support staff complement the Health Center’s attractive interior design and its outside courtyards. Street lamps light the way and sitting areas invite conversation. Here at the Health Center, we have been given the opportunity to provide senior care services in a way that de-institutionalizes the nursing home setting, and this is the reason we became administrators, nurses, and social workers.

St. Joseph associates have implemented new ways to carry out there traditional roles – being trained to be more versatile. A family of Nurses, Household Coordinator’s, Homemakers, and Caregivers are empowered to take an active role in meal planning, clinical coordination, conducting activities, and tending to the home. Daily events are centered in and near a family room. Activities are abundant for residents and there are special “Family Days” that are hosted where all enjoy professional entertainment and special luncheons.

St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center has embraced its Catholic roots and has implemented its history within the design of the Health Center. Residents and their loved ones can appreciate the special amenities offered here. The chapel beckons prayerful assemblage as well as meditative solitude. Religious services are also held on Sundays and holidays. The doors are always open.
