No Two Communities are Alike...But All Share a Common Culture

If you're looking for a one-size fits all approach to retirement, you've come to the WRONG place. The Fountains operates 19 communities and no two are alike (Click on "Our Communities" for details). We have a saying around here, that to know one Fountains community is to know one Fountains community. However, in spite of their differences in physical layout, types of services offered, and financial structure, all Fountains communities share a common culture.

For residents, that culture is one of freedom, fun and friendship. Regardless of which Fountains community they choose, residents find a life-enriching atmosphere, people of similar backgrounds and interests, and a staff who truly loves to make a difference in their lives.

For associates, working at The Fountains means working for a company with extraordinary Vision, Mission and Operating Principles (see Leading The Fountains and Working at The Fountains.) Associates are recruited for their skills and service-orientation and receive top-notch training in customer service and care, along with rewarding work experience.

For families of residents, The Fountains provides welcome solutions to a variety of situations. Whether their loved ones are seeking service-enriched retirement living, assisted living, Alzheimer's care, or nursing care, The Fountains can assist families in finding the best option.

And finally, for professionals seeking to refer their clients, The Fountains bestows trust backed up by more than 16 years of delivering on promises.

Neighborhoods within The Fountains

Within each Fountains community you will find a choice of “neighborhoods.” These neighborhoods are defined not only by their physical environment, but also by their scope of services and amenities. Below you will find a general description of each neighborhood within The Fountains. Please note that not all neighborhoods are available at every location. Please refer to “Our Communities” or “Contact Us” for more information.

Town Center

If you are currently living in your own home and are looking to maintain or even enhance your independent lifestyle, then the Town Center is the right neighborhood for you. Depending on which Fountains community you are looking at, the Town Center may offer apartments, cottages, cabanas, casitas, bungalows, suites or condos! Complementing these accommodations you’ll find a wide range of amenities in our Town Centers, including dining room, fitness center, salon, lobby/lounge, movie theater, bank branch, country/convenience store, wellness clinic, and more.

The Inn

What others in our “industry” call assisted living, we prefer to call “a little help from your friends at The Inn.” The Inn is perfect for individuals who are capable of living independently with some assistance and supervision. If you are seeking an enhanced level of health and wellbeing through ready access to services, gentle encouragement, motivation and reassurance from our 24-hour staff, The Inn is the neighborhood for you.

The Gardens
…where hugs are always remembered. Memory impairment is very common among those over the age of 80. When Alzheimer’s is suspected, prompt medical attention is paramount. Early treatment and intervention can slow progression and preserve the quality of one’s life longer. The Gardens can also help. No individual caregiver or family, however devoted or loving they are, is equipped physically, emotionally or experientially to deliver the kind of environment and care their loved one needs 24 hours a day. More and more families are turning to The Gardens and finding it the answer to their prayers (see “In the Words” and “Success Stories”). The Gardens is specially designed, staffed and programmed to bring out the best in everyone.

The Springs

In this neighborhood we offer Medicare-certified skilled nursing care for those recuperating or rehabilitating from illness or surgery, and long term care for those who need 24-hour licensed nursing care. Our standards for care are tops. Come see for yourself.

Distinctively Fountains: A Signature Selection of Dining Pleasures

In 2003, The Fountains Morrison Alliance introduced the Distinctively Fountains: A Signature Selection series, a culinary program that offers unique menu items served only to The Fountains residents across the United States.

And that was just the beginning. Now two new programs are available as part of this exciting series: Distinctively Fountains: A Signature Soup Selection and Distinctively Fountains: A Signature Entrée Selection. The recipes for the soup and entrée selections were selected from winning entries from the Distinctively Fountains Entrée and Soup Contest, sponsored by The Fountains Morrison Alliance.

Some of these winning and delicious culinary delights include:
• Devine Tomato and Sourdough Bread Soup, submitted by Kevin Devine, Executive Chef, and Bill Kauffeld, Director of Dining Services, at The Fountains at Washington House in Virginia
• Southern Cauliflower Chowder, submitted by Bob Fox, Executive Chef, at The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay in Florida
• Squash Carrot Bisque, submitted by Sally Saban, R.D., at The Fountains at Carlotta in California
• Chicken “Under the Brick,” submitted by David Cohen, Executive Chef, at The Fountains at Millbrook in New York
• Balsamic and Coffee Marinated Pork Tenderloin, submitted by Kris Krug, former Regional Director of Culinary for Morrison Senior Dining

Enjoy these new selections and let your chef know your favorites. Our goal is to give you something special, something you won’t find in other communities – something Distinctively Fountains.

Artists in Residence

The Fountains is home to hundreds of talented artists, both professional and amateur. Some of our resident artists took up art for the first time after moving in! To showcase the wonderful talent in our midst, each year we produce a calendar featuring our Artists in Residence. You will see a sampling of resident artwork from past calendars (such as the swipe to the left of this text) appearing throughout our website. For a free copy of the current year's calendar, please call The Fountains Resource Center at 1-800-635-9457. Remember, you need not be an experienced artist to live at The Fountains; you need only be experienced in the art of life.

Don't Just Take Our Word for it!

You wouldn't make a decision about moving to a retirement community based on words or pictures in a brochure or a website. You have to visit to really get to know a place and its people. And we certainly hope you will visit The Fountains.

But while you're here with us in cyberspace, we welcome you to learn why living at The Fountains is so worth while, from the perspectives of residents, families and professionals. Just click on the menu options above! Also, be sure to read our Fan Mail, published within "Our Communities".

The Best Move For Your Life
